Do you ever feel like what you are feeling isn’t normal?
Like your body isn’t working the way it should?
Or perhaps you feel those thoughts you are having are dirty, or too naughty to be nice, too scary to be playful, too different to be ‘normal’.

Let’s talk about normal. Let’s talk about those expectations you think you should have of yourself, of your intimate life, of the kind of pleasure you are having, or you think you should be having, or you are judging yourself from having it or from never having had it.
Let’s talk normal. Let’s talk about all the “supposed” that surround your body. From the way it should look to the way it should feel, to who is allowed to do anything to it, or to make it feel a certain way.
Let’s talk normal. Let’s talk about all the “expectations” you feel you need to live up to, from the ‘getting back in the saddle’ after having ejected a baby out of you, to having that perfect body (whatever the hell that means), even if your genetics will never allow you to have that imagined perfection.
Let’s talk normal. Does it exist? Why should it exist?
Why do we bring that ‘normality’ and that desire of it into our bedrooms? Into our most intimate thoughts? Into our most intimate moments?
Why are you looking to the outside of how you should be, in your body, in the relationship you have to it, to your pleasure and sense of self, to your 3rotic self, instead of looking in?

Do you feel you would be connecting more with what it is you need and want if you continue to put on the lenses for the outside world? Or would you rather start looking at yourself and what it is you desire, what it is that awakens that magnificent body of yours and transports it into this transformational place of self knowledge and pleasure.

Where should you look? Inward or always outside?

Pieces.
Piece.Sometimes you feel whole.
Sometimes you feel there’s a tiny thing of you that is missing.
Sometimes that thing is huge.
Sometimes that thing is so small and unimportant you barely know it isn’t there.
Perhaps we feel it’s small, but it really isn’t unimportant.
Perhaps we feel it’s huge, but it is really insignificant.
.
Those things can be events, like all those events you’ve lost, I’ve lost, we’ve lost this year because it wasn’t safe to be.
Those things can be places, like all those places you thought you’d feel at home, but you didn’t.
Those things can be people, like the friend you’d thought you’d grow old with but then distanced herself from you, or that lover you thought you’d count your wrinkles with, but then a broken heart or different plans interfered.
.
There are a few metaphors of life I have carried along from decades past. One of those is that of life as a jigsaw puzzle.
You think you see the picture, but so many pieces are missing, and you cannot find them because you are in a hurry, because it is a lot and so much overwhelm. And then slowly things start to ensemble themselves into some coherent form or shape.
And you start to see the midway puzzle in a different angle.
Pleasure can be like that too, as can desire. We believe we have found all the pieces that fit, for us, right now, but there are other missing, or there are pieces we won’t be able to find with this partner, or perhaps just this year. Pieces of the puzzle that translate into who we are, how we feel, what we need.
Sex is not just about sex, it is about all the things that conform and make you who you are. Sex is about your past and your present, the puzzle pieces that fit for a while and then didn’t anymore, the picture that keeps transforming as you evolve, as you change.

My love for artichokes.... Spans many decades, so

My love for artichokes....
Spans many decades, so basically, my whole life.
I used to eat them as a kid boiled or steamed with mayonnaise. Or my other favorite was stuffed with cheese and breaded. The cheese would be melted and the slow discovery, leaf my leaf, was pure bliss.
.
I don’t remember when I started to cook artichokes, because I didn’t know how to cook much back then, but artichokes was my thing.
In Mexico City, where I lived, around this time of year two magical things happen: jacarandas create clouds and roads of lavender and men come from the countryside with giant artichokes on their shoulders to sell them in the street. I had an artichoke man who would come every week to my building, ring my apartment’s doorbell and give me my weekly bounty.
I would then go into a cooking frenzy which included lots of garlic and parsley and sometimes other unusual things like Chile or cinnamon.
I used to cook very slowly because I hadn’t yet mastered the quickness of need. It was a meditative ritual which lasted hours.
.
My friends knew I cooked artichokes every week and they would just show up at my door with containers, ready to eat up and take some home.
The artichokes were as big as a baby’s head. They were so beautiful.
The artichokes were my way of being less sad, of feeling less lonely and of nurturing and caring for myself and others.
.
To this day cooking artichokes is a ritual, and it is always a plate I like to share with others. Whenever a friend needs some tlc, my first instinct is always to make them alcachofas, alcauciles, the little vegetable that can seem like a clock as you pull leaf by leaf making a pattern on the plate, eating away, finding the heart of your core, of your right now, of yourself.

It takes a long time to see oneself, to acquire the gaze that will enable you to see, to be, to be free. The journey is shortened when along the way, you find incredible humans that will see you and then teach you how they see you. I’m talking about friends.

Female friendship is something I covet and seek, it is one of the tools in my life which has made me stronger, wiser and kinder. Without my friends I wouldn’t be as free as I sought out to be. I wouldn’t be who I am today.
Some friends come and stay for a little while when you wanted them to stay longer. Others stay much longer than you expected them to. Others are bound to you for life.
.
If I were to give one piece of advice to my girls, it would be: go seek good friends, ones that won’t bullshit you nor let you bullshit yourself, friends who will hold your hand when you are sad but will also push you and question you when you are being not the smartest. Seek friends that will show you different ways of seeing the world and will appreciate the way you see it. Friends that will dance with you even when they are sad, and friends who will cry with you even when they are happy. Friends who will be kind and teach you to be kind to yourself too. Friends who won’t judge you and won’t allow you to judge yourself. Friends that you can laugh with until you pee. Friends you can go on crazy and absurd adventures with. Cherish your female friendships because those are the ones that will keep you afloat and that will stay when the storm is over. Have friends that SEE YOU, and that help you see yourself.

7 years ago I woke up remembering I had forgotten

7 years ago I woke up remembering I had forgotten to cancel a blind date I really didn’t want to go to. As the well-mannered human I sometimes am, I didn’t think it appropriate to cancel the same day. Damn it. Well, I was not going to wear my contacts for this random human! I did wear a dress, and heels, and even some lipstick.
I hated first dates. They were uncomfortable, disappointing and just overall sad. I used to tell myself, in the absolute loneliness I lived, that bad dates are good anecdotes, as a sort of push to go on them.
It was a completely blind date set up by a matchmaker who found people on NY’s Subway.
The first thing I thought when I saw him sitting at the entrance of the bar holding the newspaper of the day (so we would recognize each other) was “wow, he is cute!” and he still is.
That first date was the first time in a long long time in which I felt the most myself. I told him about me dressing up as Elvis on my birthday (yup, Kelvis comes to life every November!), how I had an ostrich pillow for travel (if you don’t know what that is, look it up!), and I simply laughed. It was beyond delightful.
He touched my arm, all form of explosions happened inside of me.
He walked me to the subway and kissed me, grabbed my butt and I knew.
The next night he surprised me at a swing dancing event. We danced. We had wine. We ate cheese. We walked many blocks. We picked up my Lola and walked in Central Park until 3 in the morning, talking and kissing. I knew.
You know those old stories of “when you know you know”. I knew. He did too. 10 days later we were engaged. It’s been 7 years since we met and I cannot picture my life in any other way, with any other human to live a Pandemic with, raise 3 dragons, reno a house, play lego, move countries and go on self-growth adventures.

Though the development of the Erotic Self and Holistic Coaching. What is the Erotic and why holistic? Well, the Erotic is the part of sexuality that uses our brain, which is our largest sex organ. And the holistic part, well, everything is connected. You cannot isolate sexuality in a bubble and believe the rest of your life doesn’t touch or affect it.

I am me. I have been trying to be the most me for the past 39 years of my life. Sometimes I manage it and sometimes I get lost in the process. But ah, the process!
As a teen and in my early twenties I defined my personality more as a reaction to what I didn’t want than to what I did want. My late twenties and my thirties have been a more truthful journey.
I was born in Mexico and lived there most of my life. Yes, Spanish is my native tongue. I have lived in other places too like Sao Paulo, Berlin, NY & Jerusalem. I love traveling and miss it very much.
I currently live in Canada and have slowly learnt how to do winter appropriately.
I met my husband almost 7 years ago. Ten days later we were engaged. He is my unicorn.
I have three baby dragons whom I love and drive me crazy. I thought I would love being pregnant and I absolutely hated it.
I love helping and I am a great connector of people. I show my caring with food, I will always be feeding anyone that will let me feed them. When I was 23 I didn’t even know how to cook an egg. Now I invent recipes.
My favorite food is an artichoke. I used to have an artichoke guy in Mexico City many lives ago.
I used to work in radio and in television. If you catch me off-guard I’ll tell you how you can find tv clips of me on youtube. I still miss doing radio.

Going from having babies 6 years straight to figuring out my body in a pandemic, not the easiest.
I have discovered sweatpants and sweatshirts, (looking at you @betterthreads.ca and @wearfranc ). Life will never be the same.

We didn’t do much for Valentine’s.
It has never meant much to me except for those years I thought I was lacking. In high school, kids could send balloons and whatnot in between schools. I never got any. I felt so worthless. So I gave out friendship lollypops, trying to fill that lack.
Later on, we’ll, it was just a day which I felt was meant to make me feel lonelier than I already was.
Lack.
How stupid.
I wish #gallentines had been in my radar, and I had taken the excuse to celebrate my female friendships unapologetically.
But mostly, I should have damn celebrated myself.
Because truly, If you can’t look at yourself in the mirror and laugh and cry and love, then how can you love and laugh with another in the deepest way?
If you don’t look at yourself and desire, know you can seduce and be seduced by yourself, and do so, then what’s the point?It’s a journey.One worth takingHappy whatever day you want to celebrate today. I wake up on the last day of the year as exhausted

I wake up on the last day of the year as exhausted as I have felt on the worst days of 2020. Blame the 3 dragons affected by the full moon.
.
At the beginning of each year I choose a word for me, a word that will define my year. I had chosen “foundation” for 2020, it was going to be the year I was going to start building in a more thorough way. No more babies at my breast, my reno project basically complete.
And then...
If I could choose a word for this year it would be shattering.
.
This year broke me, it devastated me. It made me question absolutely every decision I had made to build the life I lead. It made my body revolt against itself. It made me cry and wail more than I had in years past. It made me numb in the most painful way. It made me feel more alone than I have ever felt.
.
It made the business I had built for the last few years come to a complete halt. It made me watch friends struggle, be far away, move countries without a huge goodbye. I didn’t see any of my family for the whole year.
.
I feel like I achieved nothing in this year from the worst annals of Dante’s imagination. I speak horribly to myself in my silence and sometimes out loud. Both @your_shop_girl, a friend the last few years and @thegoodseedto, a new found friend, tell me I’m wrong. I survived. My family survived. I moved houses. I planted a garden. And harvested. I read 48 books. I knit. I survived. I did 100 @onepeloton rides.
I also asked for a lot of help. My two oldest friends @rfl305 and @mneits knew about my shattering and held space for me.
@drlisawatsonnd helped me fix my body, @faymeling_acu healed me through her needles.
I am on the list to have the dog of my dreams in the year to come.
I have a kick ass new haircut by @derek_hannah (waiting patiently for a trim @bobandpaigesalon )
Enjoyed my first manicure in months like absolute luxury from @tipsnailbar
and everything, absolutely everything, with @ajswartz holding me together with patience and tenderness.This year shattered me. Absolutely and completely.
I am still catching my breath. Next year my word will be gentleness. That’s all. Softness and flow in the crazy that comes and goes. In the absolute uncertainty
